LIGHTS AHOY! – Loud and wide-in-pitch voices hailed “Merry Christmas” from shore to boat and back again as a record number of boats cruised down the Swinomish Channel for the 45th annual La Conner lighted boat parade Saturday. Once again it was the most crowded day of the year in town, both on the boardwalk and Morris Street, which was again jammed with traffic for well over 30 minutes after the parade ended. A mild, 48 degree evening contributed to the joyfulness. There was a marked Red-nosed Reindeer theme on boat bows, with antlers aft and an occasional accompanying tune sung by sailors. – Photo by Nancy Crowell
