Longtime La Conner resident Michael John Graham died peacefully in his sleep at home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Thursday, January 1, 2015 after a short second battle with cancer. He was 66 years old. Ross Oliver Hambly died peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, at La Conner Retirement Inn, at the age of 101 years. Ross lived a long life, for which his family is grateful. Ross was born on December 6, 1913 in Duluth, Minnesota to parents Richard Oliver and Josephine Hambly. He was the third of four siblings: sister, Vivian and two brothers, Wayne and Richard Rex (Bud). Longtime Mount Vernon resident Helen Mary Roozen died peacefully on Friday, January 9, surrounded by family members. She was 93 years of age. Helen was born April 12, 1921, in Haarlem, the Netherlands, into a devout Catholic family and was the second of nine children. Helen attended the Maria Catholic Girls School grades 1-6 and five years MMS at the Sancta Maria Private Girls School. She graduated at age 17 with the equivalent of a junior college degree.
