    On what appeared to be a unanimous vote, the four La Conner Town Councilmen on Tuesday appointed Marylee Chamberlain to fill the vacancy on their five-member panel.     Chester Cayou, Jr. and Brian Wilbur were each re-elected to five-year terms on the 11-member Swinomish Indian Tribal Community Senate. In an election held Sunday, Cayou garnered 135 votes, with his challenger, La Conner School Board President Janie Beasley, coming in a close second with 118. Wilbur, who was challenged by Theodore Edge, Sr., won re-election to his position 183 to 71.     Longtime La Conner resident Merle Dean Flood, “Dean” to everyone who knew him, died on Thursday, February 6 at the age of 66. Dean was born in Barron, Wisconsin on December 12, 1947 to Merle C. Flood and Allene S. Flood. He attended Stout State University of Wisconsin, where he graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. After college, Dean traveled around the United States, visiting various cities. During his travels, he arrived in beautiful La Conner and decided to call the town home.     La Conner alumnus Wayne Lindstrom of Mount Vernon died at age 89 on Sunday, February 9. He was born October 1, 1924 in Northwood, North Dakota to Wendell and Mathea Lundgaard Lindstrom. At an early age, Wayne moved with his family to La Conner, where he grew up and graduated from La Conner High School.
