And they have already moved to a bigger space, occupying 1,500 square feet – retail is 1,000 square feet, including Rachel’s Cool Beans Cafe – at 2308 Commercial Avenue since February.     The Skagit Valley Food Co-op has experienced phenomenal growth from its 1973 start in a church basement in downtown Mount Vernon, but it has not strayed far from its roots or its original location.
