Janet R. Good

1932-2013

Janet R. Good, a fourth generation Skagitonian, died peacefully at age 81 on Monday, December 16, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Janet was born at Rowley Hospital, Mount Vernon, on October 19, 1932 to Roy C and Virginia Nelson Moen.

She graduated from Mount Vernon High School Class of 1950. Janet met Pat Good and they were later married on December 18, 1953 at Salem Lutheran Church.

They farmed on Fir Island for many years then moved to LaConner to raise their family and continue farming for r Skagit Properties. Their union lasted 55 years until Pat died in 2008.

Janet attended Skagit Valley College and later graduated from Western Washington University with a teaching credential and began her 20-year career teaching in the LaConner School District.

During her years as a teacher, Janet coached girls basketball and tennis, she also served as cheerleading advisor. She taught Physical Education, Health, Second, Third and Eighth grades, enriching the lives and touching the hearts of many children and their families. Janet was also a Campfire Girl leader for many years.

In her youth and while raising her family, she was an avid lover of sports participating in swimming, tennis, bowling, softball, and skiing. In later years she enjoyed knitting, sewing, playing bridge and vacationing on the Hawaiian Islands.

Janet was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary #147 and a member of the La Conner Billikin Club.

Janet was a graceful but fierce warrior, battling Multiple Sclerosis for over 30 years. Her courageous and positive attitude allowed her to live life to its fullest despite many challenges.

She leaves behind three loving daughters and one son-in-law, Kimberly Good Rubenstein of LaConner; Tom and Virginia Good Vlahovich of Sedro-Woolley and Patsy Good and Martin Taylor of Guemes Island.

She also leaves her grandchildren, Roslynn Tellvik and Sook Goh, Marcus and Tischa Tellvik, Clinton Branum, Elizabeth Rubenstein, Christina Rubenstein, and Thomas Kahn. She is survived by her great-grandchildren, Jaeden and Sadie Tellvik, her sister, Christy Moen and Keith Playsted, her brother and sister-in-law Corky and Nancy Moen, all of Olympia; and her sister- and brothers-in- law Mary Lou Lovelace of Bellevue, Michael Good, and Ben Tjersland of LaConner and a lifetime of extended family and dear, dear friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Pat Good, Sister Jean Tjersland, and parents Roy C and Virginia Moen.

A Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held at Salem Lutheran Church, 2529 N Laventure Rd, Mount Vernon, on Saturday, December 28 at 11:00 AM, followed by a light lunch.
