Monday March 24
3:02 p.m.: Crunch time – A motorist new to the area failed to yield to oncoming traffic on Fir Island Road while coming off Moore Road near the north fork of the Skagit River.
Thursday March 25
3:14 p.m.: Being helpful – A deputy gave a resident a ride home from La Conner Town Hall.
Friday March 28
11:56 p.m.: Oops! – Someone accidently dialed 911 from a pay phone near the public restrooms onFirst Street in La Conner. This time, the person was nice enough to stay on the line to say the call was accidental, saving deputies a trip to the phone booth.
3:11 p.m.: Boat stranded – A vessel with people on board needed help in the Goat Island andHopeIsland area. They had already been in contact with the Coast Guard. (See letter on page 2 of today’s paper.)
3:58 p.m.: Scary texts – A person sent disturbing text messages while atDeceptionPassBridge, and someone else was worried they might be contemplating suicide. The texter was contacted by deputies and assisted.
7:55 p.m.: Distress flare – Someone onFidalgoIsland toward the north end of the Swinomish Channel reported seeing a boater’s flare. Marine patrol deputies and a Coast Guard helicopter checked the area and found nothing amiss. There were no other reports of the flare.
Saturday March 29
12:36 p.m.: Potty napper – A man was found catching some ZZZZs in the public restroom onMorris Street in La Conner. A deputy woke him up and gave him a ride home.
Sunday March 30
7:26 p.m.: 911 hangup – A caller dialed 911 from a public phone near La Conner Marina and then hung up.
Monday March 31
8:44 a.m.: Theft – A motion sensor was stolen from La Conner’sPioneerPark.
9:37 a.m.: Found – A wallet was found a the La Conner skateboard park. A deputy left a message for he kid’s mother in hopes of returning it.
