SHERYL GRANT

La Conner resident Sheryl Grant died at age 70 at her home on Tuesday, June 3.

She was born May 15, 1944 and had lived in the Magnolia and Queen Anne area for most of her life, later moving to Mount Vernon for a period of time before purchasing a home on Channel Drive in La Conner in 2002. Sherry loved looking out over the water of the Swinomish Channel, seeing the boats go by and watching the resident eagles fly.

Sherry attended Queen Anne High School and graduated in 1962. She was a member of the Queen Anne Alumni Association. Sherry was proud of her high school and will always be a “Grizzly.”

Sherry loved to volunteer. They say that the “greatest gift is a portion of thyself,” and Sherry gave a lot of herself to everyone she came across.

She volunteered for many years at the Seattle Crisis Clinic, was a member of the Rotary Club of La Conner, serving on its board as treasurer, and also worked with Shelter Box-USA and was a regular volunteer with the La Connor Chamber of Commerce. She also helped out at the La Conner Senior Center, assisting elderly people with their tax returns.

Sherry volunteered for many other organizations over the years — she loved helping other people.

Sherry and her life partner, George Kynl, loved to travel — especially on cruise ships, where they enjoyed seeing the world by boat.

Sherry is survived by her son Brian Bergstrom and daughter-in-law Kari and her grandsons Alec and Blake. She also leaves George Kynl, her life partner for 20 years, and their dog Dudley, a “Labradoodle.” She is also survived by her brother Don Grant and sister-in-law Kathy, her niece Maggie and her nephew Ryan; and her sisters Pam Pabst and Patti Hathaway.

Sherry was an amazing person, who surrounded herself with great friends. She was an even better mom!

She was always there when I, Brian, needed her, offering words of wisdom or just an ear for me to talk to. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

There will be no memorial service. Please send any donation in her name to Seattle Crisis Clinic, 9725 3rd Ave., NE #300, Seattle, WA 98115 or PAWS, 15305 44th Ave. W, Lynnwood, WA 98087.
