What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Unless, of course, a trip to La Conner is also in the cards.
In that case, all bets are off.
Which is why Waterfront Cafe owner Guy Vallee has instead put his chips on a madcap film venture that deftly links Las Vegas and La Conner while also paying tribute to the local restaurateur’s brother, Pete Vallee, better known as the iconic “Big Elvis” of Harrah’s Piano Bar fame.
The project spans not only distance, but also time, taking viewers back to the era of Jimmy Carter, leisure suits, and disco.
Or, in more local terms, to the days when La Conner had its own police force, with officers cramped inside an unlikely patrol fleet of super-mini Renault LeCars.
Thus the movie’s title: La Conner PD.
