LARRY MONROE STEINMAN

Longtime La Conner resident Larry Monroe Steinman died suddenly at age 71 on Tuesday, September 16 in Missoula, Montana.

Larry was born in Mount Vernon and retired from Dunlap Towing after more than 40 years.

After retirement he and his wife Shirley moved to Montana and built their home in Trout Creek, Montana to enjoy the sportsman’s paradise that they both came to know and love. Larry was happiest when together with Shirley on a quiet lake in their boat with fishing lines in the water, hunting for wild game, or four-wheeling on a Montana mountain trail, enjoying the spectacular view.

Larry was a talented tinkerer, repairman, carpenter, craftsman, mechanic and stained-glass artist, just to name a few. He was always active at some type of project, whether great or small it didn’t matter, as he was the consummate artisan in everything he accomplished.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Bertha Steinman.

He leaves behind his loving and dedicated wife of almost 30 years Shirley Steinman, his son Scott Steinman, his son Eric Steinman and his fiancée Donnelle, his stepdaughter Tamera Kinsella and her husband Barry, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Donna Steinman and his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Sharon Steinman, as well as countless relatives and friends who knew him for his quiet and witty demeanor.

No service is planned, but a memorial celebration will take place in the future to celebrate Larry’s life, where the people who knew him can get together and talk in a quiet setting the way Larry chose to spend his days.
