Bibli, the La Conner Library hamster, died early Monday morning, December 22, due to old age.
Bibli was a free hamster who came to live at the library during the summer of 2013 in support of the Summer Reading Program theme, Dig Into Reading. He never left.
Though his friends were unsure of his exact age, he was considered an adult by people in the know. Well cared for hamsters tend to live two to three years at most.
A Roborovski hamster, the smallest kind of hamster breed, Bibli spent the last years of his life entertaining old and young as he maneuvered through his toilet paper rolls and ran in his hamster wheel.
He even had an online newspaper to educate people about hamster care on paper.lit. He will be missed by all his fans.
