MICHAEL JOHN GRAHAM

Longtime La Conner resident Michael John Graham died peacefully in his sleep at home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Thursday, January 1, 2015 after a short second battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.

During the 1970s, one of his first jobs in La Conner was on a dairy farm, which led to him to be affectionately known around town by a colorful nickname associated with long days working around cows.

Born in Wisconsin June 17, 1948, he was raised in Milwaukee before finding his way to Washington State after the Vietnam War.

He stayed in Washington for more than 30 years and treasured the friendships he made there. Mike was a wonderful father and a compassionate man, known for his fine woodworking skills and his love of the small dogs he had over the years.

Michael is survived by his children Lexie and Max, former wife and friend Liz, siblings Chuck (Joelle), Ken (Chris), and Janice Marcus (Steve) and little dog Harry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Don and dogs Tippy and Desi.

A memorial service was held January 6 in Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the La Conner Boys and Girls Club.
