Tuesday April 14
Midnight: Suspicious – A person was seen walking around in the area of the La Conner roundabout. Deputies found a vehicle in the area, but nobody around. The registered owner had sold the vehicle, but had not updated the information with the state, which is not only required by law but is a good idea so the registered owner is not legally liable for future problems. Even so, the new owner’s name was with the vehicle so deputies made a note of it just in case there were issues reported later.
3:13 p.m.: Sad ending – Two dogs were reported lost in downtownConway. A short time later, a dog matching the description of one of the missing pets was reported to have been struck by train and killed. The owner was notified.
8:47 p.m.: Accident – A driver who hit a guide wire onFir Island Road near Snow Goose Farm claimed it was from taking evasive action to avoid hitting an animal.
10:45 p.m.: Suspicious – Near closing time at the Shell station on Hwy 20 andLa Conner Whitney Road a driver asked for a jump start even though her vehicle was already running. The vehicle and occupants were gone when deputies arrived.
Wednesday April 15
1:21 p.m.: Fender bender – Two vehicles connected in the parking lot at Snow Goose Farm onFirIsland. The drivers exchanged information.
Thursday April 16
7:19 p.m.: Harassment – Someone in the area of Park andCaledonia streets in La Conner asked 911 dispatchers to have a deputy to call but did not answer when called and did not return the deputy’s call.
Friday April 17
12:43 p.m.: Hot Dog – Somebody reported a dog locked in a car onSouth First Street in La Conner, but deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.
2:25 p.m.: Fender bender – Vehicles connected at the La Conner Post Office. Drivers exchanged information.
10:30 p.m.: Public weeping – People were arguing in the Channel Cove area of La Conner, then a woman was on the sidewalk crying. The woman was given a ride. There was no crime, just an alcohol issue.
Saturday April 18
11:18 p.m.: Having fun – A teen girl in dark clothing ran into a resident’s yard on North 6th Street in La Conner while a vehicle was driving by slowly in the area and people were running around with flashlights. When the girl was confronted by the homeowner she fled. Deputies arrived and found a group of high school kids playing “flashlight tag.” They were reminded that it is a very bad idea to play on private property without permission lest a frustrated property owner decide to take matters into their own hands and call the cops later. Also property owners are advised to always let law enforcement deal with trespassers.
Sunday April 19
1:56 p.m.: Mystery – Deputies received word that a white van had struck a guardrail in the Rexville area, but could not locate a vehicle matching the description and saw no damage to the guardrail.
8:23 p.m.: Waiting – There was a report that an intoxicated person was waiting for a ride in the vicinity of Pioneer Market in La Conner. The free ride customer was gone when the deputies arrived.
