The old Potlatch Resort is turning into the new La Conner Marina RV Resort.
“We’re hoping we’ll have it open Memorial Day,” said Harbormaster Kody Skvaril.
Crews have been sprucing up the property, trimming trees and improving the RV spots. Last week the building demolition began, and on Monday, the old Potlatch structure had been reduced to a pile of rubble and what remains of the yet-to-be uprooted indoor swimming pool.
Skvaril said there are plans to turn the old Potlatch building site into a grassy area that could accommodate outdoor concerts and other gatherings.
The campground, “is a huge asset for the town,” Skvaril said.
The 68 RV sites have full hookups, including water, sewer and electricity, he said. Also, the port plans to put in an RV dump station.
Campers will also have access to washers and dryers, showers and restrooms located steps away from the RV park across N. Third Street. The port is installing a crosswalk with a flashing caution signal for pedestrian safety.
Rental rates at La Conner Marina RV Resort have already been established, Skvaril said. Campers will pay $40 per night in the summer, and $32 per night October through April.
