11:29 a.m .: Drug problem – A student was found to be in possession of marijuana and alcohol at La Conner High School.
11:38 a.m .: Vandalism – Postal employees refused to let someone get into another patron’s post office box, and the person who tried to get the mail damaged one of the boxes at La Conner Post Office trying to gain entry.
2:46 p.m .: More vandalism – Somebody cut the fuel line on a truck parked behind Pioneer Market in La Conner.
Tuesday May 5
1:54 a.m .: Argument – Someone reported a fight outside a residence, 300 block ofMaple Ave., La Conner. It turned out to be an argument.
Wednesday May 6
9:59 a.m .: Ouch! – Somebody tripped and fell in the busy crosswalk atMaple Ave. andMorris Street in La Conner. Deputies give the man a ride and located a friend who further assisted him.
12:06 p.m .: Just walking – Somebody called worried about seeing an intoxicated person walking toward town. The walker told the deputy they were just headed out to enjoy the boardwalk and turned down offers of assistance and a ride.
12:23 p.m .: Fender bender – A driver attempting to park clipped another vehicle near First and Morris streets in La Conner. The motorists exchanged information.
3:02 p.m .: Traffic enforcement – A vehicle was blocking someone in onState Street in La Conner. The vehicle had moved when deputies arrived.
Thursday May 7
7:19 a.m .: Stolen vehicle – Deputies discovered that a vehicle that had been left along the roadside at La Conner Whitney and McLean roads north of La Conner had been stolen from Alger. They later received a call from a person claiming to be the owner and wanting to know why their car was towed. The “owner” had just bought it from someone who apparently didn’t own it. The real owner had left the title in the glove box. Deputies warn that only the registration, never the title, should be left in the glove box.
4:37 p.m .: Kid alert! – An anonymous caller reported they were worried that two middle school students were sitting at a picnic table hanging out on a beautiful afternoon in downtown La Conner. The caller said the kids hadn’t done anything yet. Deputies did not contact the youths, because it is neither suspicious nor criminal to be a kid in public.
Saturday May 9
4:21 p.m .: Hot Dog – The vehicle reportedly containing an overheated pooch onNorth First Street in La Conner was gone when deputies arrived.
10:15 p.m .: Domestic – A verbal dispute, 900 blockMaple Ave., La Conner.
Sunday May 10
11:49 a.m .: Property damage – A driver who was stopped for speeding onWhatcom Street in La Conner had damaged personal property in front of a residence. The driver didn’t mention it the deputy, who wasn’t aware of the damage. The driver figured it must not have mattered, since the deputy didn’t say anything about it. After the homeowner reported the damage, deputies tracked down the speeder and he will be taking care of it.
12:42 p.m .: Alcohol problem – A neighbor said people were drinking alcohol, 900 blockMaple Ave., and that is in violation of the lease terms.
4:23 p.m .: Hot dogs – Someone reported that dogs were left in a pickup with a canopy near the Swinomish Yacht Club in La Conner. The dogs and vehicle were located, but the animals were not in distress.
8:35 p.m .: Question – A landlord of property on S. 4th Street in La Conner wanted to know what to do with property left behind by a tenant who had moved out.
Monday May 11
4:04 a.m .: Alarm – An alarm went off at Pioneer Market in La Conner. Everything was secure.
8:59 a.m .: Graffiti – Somebody painted “Catfish” on the La Conner Skateboard Park.
