IDA LOIS WOLD

Ida Lois Denton Wold died April 17, 2015 peacefully at home with family by her side. Lois was the fifth child born to Francis Oscar and Mamie A. Valentine Denton on February 18, 1925.

Her early years were spent on Pleasant Ridge on the land her grandfather, S. T. Valentine, homesteaded in the late 1880s. She lived her whole life in Skagit County. Lois graduated from La Conner High School and worked for the Puget Sound Seed Company in La Conner until her marriage to Alvin L. Wold in 1950.

Then in 1961, Lois and Al adopted two brothers, Alan Ross Wold, who was 5½ years old, and Jeffery Louis Wold, 4 years old.

Lois leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Janet Wold of Byron, Illinois; grandchildren Ann (Brad) Derting of Anacortes, William Wold of Olympia, Virginia Wold Jiminez of Yakima, and April (Josiah) Ju of Seoul, South Korea; great-grandchildren Gavin and Calista Derting, Syrus Wold-Morgan, and Hannah Ju; her brother Bruce (Darlene) Denton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin in 1972 and her son Jeff in 1991. She was also preceded in death by sisters and brothers and their spouses Anne Denton, Naomi (DeeDee) Denton Prante, Virginia (Harold) Barr, Mary (Ken) Denton Prante, Paul (Faith) Denton, Daniel (Ruth) Denton, David (Lorraine) Denton and John (Karlyn) Denton; niece Lorene (Denny) Denton Medcalf and nephew Curtis Denton.

The family would like to thank caregivers Jennifer Cook, Genie Metcalf, Mel Vermaat and Betty King as well as Visiting Nurses Homecare and Catholic Community Services for the wonderful care they gave Lois over the last four years. Lois’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dorina Denton for the compassionate care and respect she showed to Lois.

Graveside services will be held at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery for family and friends on Monday, June 29, at 12 noon. Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home.
