Lifelong Skagit Valley resident Eleanore M. Hedbom, 84, died at her home in Burlington on Thursday, October 8 following a long battle with diabetes and heart disease.
Eleanore was born March 13, 1931 in Burlington to Earl and Lorraine Reed. She attended school in Burlington and graduated with the class of 1949. She married Jerry Hedbom on November 10, 1950, and they lived in La Conner for over 40 years.
They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary next month. Eleanore worked for the La Conner School District and retired as head cook. She loved to crochet, grow flowers and spend time with her family.
Eleanore is survived by her husband, Jerry Hedbom; daughter Janice and her husband Steve Dorsey of Camano Island; son Steve Hedbom and his wife Terri Carr of La Conner; grandchildren Andy and Desirae Dorsey, Amy and Matt Hartsock, Dane and Jamie Dorsey, Steven Dorsey and Eric Hedbom; great-grandchildren Blake Dorsey, Tanner Dorsey, Danica Dorsey and Chance Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Emma Hedbom, and her sister and brother-in-law Delores and Gordon Omdal.
Services will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 1825 E. College Way in Mount Vernon on Friday, October 16 at 2 p.m. Please share your thoughts of Eleanore and sign the online guest register atwww.hawthornefh.com
