La Conner resident and Swinomish Indian Tribal Com-munity member Clayton Charles Day “Gul gs ka dub II,” died at age 27 on Wednesday, February 24.
Clayton was born and raised on the Swinomish Reservation. He was born on March 28, 1988 to Marlene Stone and Jackson Day. He attended La Conner Schools, and he loved to play basketball, canoe racing and hanging with his family and friends.
Clayton was a member of the Catholic Church, the Smokehouse and a commercial fisherman. Clayton begin fishing when he was only 7 years old. One of the highlights of his career as a fisherman was going to Bristol Bay, Alaska. He loved to be on the water.
Clay Day had a heart of gold; he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Clayton was preceded in death by his grandfather Gus Stone, Jr., his grandparents August and Connie Day; his uncles, Phillip Stone, Gary Day, and Bill Day; his aunts, Martha and Debbie Day, Lenora and Leona Stone; his brother Lance Fornsby and his sisters Lenora Siddle and Cora Clark.
Clayton is survived by his parents, Marlene and Jack; his grandmother, Virginia Scott; his brother Jordan Stone; his sisters Crystal Day and Nolita Bob; his nephews Dillion and Mathew Stone and Dashawn Siddle; his niece Kerriah Paul and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
A prayer service was held on Sunday, February 28, followed by a funeral service on Monday, February 29, at 10 a.m. Both services were held at the Swinomish Social Services building.
Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home.
