Barbara E. LeSourd passed away on July 3, in Stanwood at age 85.
She was one of eight children born to Martin and Frances Bryant Borgman on October 5, 1930 in Ellensburg.
The Borgman family even-tually moved to the LeSourd Family Farm in Coupeville. This is where she met her husband Edward C. LeSourd.
Barb wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and had many responsibilities on the farm. The couple married in June 1950 in Coupeville at the family farm. In 1952 their daughter Sandy was born and in 1955 their son John was born.
She enjoyed working and was proud to do so. She owned and operated Mode-O-Day, a women’s clothing store and owned and operated a floral shop with her Sister Juanita.
She attended the Nursing Program at Skagit Valley College and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked nights at Skagit Valley Hospital and Mountain Glen Retirement Center. She retired in 2002 to care for her husband Ed.
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, traveling to destinations including Europe, Maui, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota, and decorating the Christmas gifts and her tree. Most important to her was spending time with her family.
Barb is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Red Clark of Ford, her son and daughter-in-law John and Connie LeSourd of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren, Jessica (Terje) Culp; Erica Hernandez, Halei (James) Young, Jeremiah (Nikki) LeSourd, Linsey (Jeff) Rauch and Nathan LeSourd; 11 Great-Grandchildren, Drew, Alonna and Mason Payne, Jeret and Karlin Culp, Julian and Levi Young, Jace and Sienna Rauch and Jeremiah John and Leilah LeSourd; sisters, Faye (Bill) Engle and Annabelle Cunningham, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ed on May 3, 2003, as well as her sisters, Joy Libbey and Juanita Morrison and brothers, Grant, Billy and Peter Borgman.
Viewing will be held on Friday, July 15, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Kern Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 16 at 11 a.m. at Kern Funeral Home. Barb will be laid to rest with her husband Ed at Mount Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home of Mount Vernon.
