BARBARA McGEE COOPER

Barbara McGee Cooper of La Conner died Tuesday, July 12 at Home Place in Burlington, with her family by her side.

Born in 1928 in Turlock, California, Barbara attended the University of California at Berkeley and graduated from California State University at Hayward with a BA in Education.

She taught in the Oakland and Contra Costa California Public Schools for 28 years. She was a skilled teacher, teaching children math in unique ways.

Barbara loved living life to its fullest, loved travel, learning, and adventure, was an avid sailor, and did not let life’s trials slow down her zest for living.

Barbara is lovingly remem-bered by her husband of 38 years Allen “Skip” Cooper of La Conner; brother and sister-in-law Charles and Carole McGee of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, her son Robert Dunlap of Penngrove, California, her daughter Janice Dunlap Bode of Hamilton, Virginia, her step-daughter Stacy Cooper Alexander of Martinez, California and her step-son James Cooper of Pleasant Hill, California. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Dunlap of Priest River, Idaho and her parents Leonard and Margaret McGee.
