Monday Dec 5

3:22 p.m.: Pirates – An 8-horse power outboard motor was stolen off a boat while parked near the Dunlap Towing office off ofDunlap Street in La Conner.

Wednesday Dec 7

3:24 p.m.: Paranormal – The caretaker at the Rexville Grange thought she heard footsteps inside the building. Deputies checked the building and no one was found.

9:47 p.m.: Runaway – A 13-year-old was reported as a run-away. He was found on the front porch of his home onPark Street in La Conner. Deputies talked with the t’ween, and he agreed to follow his parents’ rules from now on.

Thursday Dec 8

3:31 p.m.: Bike – A lost bike was recovered on March’sPoint Road and entered into found property at the Sheriff’s office.

3:51 p.m.: Alarm – An alarm was going off inside a La Conner home onSpencer Lane. Deputies could not get ahold of the homeowner. Everything appeared OK.

Saturday Dec 10

9 a.m.: Hit n’ run – The reporting party’s car was hit while parked in front of the Conway Pub overnight. No suspects.

Monday Dec 12

8:59 a.m.: Oops! – Possible vandalism to an upstairs window at a home onN. Third Street in La Conner. Deputies investigated and believe it was an accident.

Wednesday Dec 7

3:37 p.m.: Arrest – Just after 3:30 p.m., officers developed information that a subject with warrants for her arrest might be in the area of the Village Chevron. The area was checked, and the female suspect was noted in a pickup truck leaving the area. A Swinomish officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle onSnee Oosh Road and contacted the woman, who initially provided a false name. Upon being advised that she had been recognized, the woman acknowledged her true identity and was taken into custody without incident. She was transported to the Skagit County Jail and booked on two misdemeanor and one felony warrant.

8:50 p.m.: Intoxicated driver – At approximately 8:35 p.m., a Swinomish officer observed a Mercury sedan go through the stop sign atShelter Bay Drive andPioneer Parkway without stopping.

He followed the vehicle as it accelerated rapidly, noting that it was traveling at approximately 40 miles per hour in a posted 25-mile-per hour zone.

The officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle and noted a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the passenger compartment.

The officer noted several signs of impairment from the driver, including slow, lethargic responses to questions.

He had the driver step out of the vehicle to perform field sobriety checks, and the driver did poorly.

He also admitted that he had been smoking marijuana recently.

Based upon the officer’s observations, the 31-year-oldMount Vernon resident was taken into custody for DUI. A blood draw was completed and sent to the lab.

Charges are pending the results of the blood testing.

The driver was issued a citation with a future court date and given a courtesy ride from the area.

His vehicle was impounded as required by law.
