Eulalia “Lala” Ruiz, 82 of Mount Vernon, died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, January 12.
She was born on June 16, 1934 in Lyford, Texas to Isidro Reina and Trinidad Rodriguez. She attended school in San Perlita, Texas.
On September 3, 1948, she married Antonio “Tony” Ruiz and began their family together. They settled in La Conner, where she worked at the Lighthouse Inn for many years and later moved to Mount Vernon.
Lala had a contagious smile and laugh. She enjoyed being with her family, collecting turtle figurines and was a casino enthusiast. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Lala is survived by her husband, Antonio “Tony” Ruiz, her seven children: her daughter and son-in-law Angela and Ricardo Martinez; daughter and son-in-law Mary and Julian Fuentes; son Richard Ruiz; son and daughter-in-law Roy and Judy Ruiz; daughter Hopie; daughter and son-in-law Anita and John Smith; and daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Jack Roy. She also leaves a sister, Frances Stone; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Guadalupe “Lupe” Guzman.
Rosary service was held on Tuesday at Kern’s Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church today, Wednesday, January 18, at 11 a.m. and graveside services will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
