11:53 a.m .: Creeper – A report of a prowler in La Conner.

7:27 p.m .: Bad parking spot – Deputies responded after a car-owner was planning to leave their car for a few hours at theLa Conner Whitney Road roundabout after it got a flat tire.

Tuesday Feb 28

8:32 p.m .: Off-leash – Two dogs were spotted running free in front of the La Conner library onMorris Street. Deputies didn’t find them.

Wednesday March 1

10:54 a.m .: Oops! – An accidental911 call from a business onMorris Street, La Conner. There were no problems.

12:31 p.m .: Skinny cow – A caller was worried the cows alongLa Conner Whitney Road and Young Road were underfed. Animal control determined the cattle were fine.

2:21 p.m .: Bumper hugger – A driver was issued a citation for following too close to another vehicle alongChilberg Road, La Conner.

4:18 p.m .: Lost – A 20-year old woman was asking for directions alongValentine Road,Mount Vernon. She appeared to be under the influence. Deputies were unable to locate her.

11:30 p.m .: Drug deal – A caller reported a possible drug deal occurring at 900 blockMaple Avenue, La Conner. Deputies couldn’t get any more information from the caller.

Thursday March 2

7:14 a.m .: Graffiti – Another vandalism incident at theMorris Street public restrooms in La Conner. The building was tagged with black spray paint with “what appeared to be an inverted ‘t’.”

Friday March 3

10:13 a.m .: Car question – A caller fromSecond Street, La Conner had a question about vehicle equipment.

Saturday March 4

12:54 p.m .: Prowler – A caller reported that someone opened a window on their home in La Conner. The prowler did not enter and nothing was taken.

Monday March 6

9:12 a.m .: Theft – An outboard motor was stolen from a home north of La Conner. There are no suspects.

Swinomish Police Department

After months of investigation by the Swinomish Police Department into several residential burglaries, many in the Pull & Be Damned Road area during 2015, one of the suspects has been sentenced.

Andrew Buchanan, a resident of IslandCounty, was sentenced in Skagit County Superior Court to 124 months in prison after being found guilty of Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Burglary in the 1st Degree, 2 counts of Theft of a Firearm, Theft in the 1st Degree, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Trafficking in Stolen Property.

Buchanan participated in several Burglaries on the Swinomish Reservation which resulted in stolen jewelry and guns.

Many of the stolen items have been recovered from pawn and jewelry stores across three counties where Buchanan had sold them.

Sunday March 5

Boaters rescued – The Swinomish Police Patrol Boat assisted in the rescue of a small craft that lost power and was adrift west ofDeceptionIsland. The approximately 15-foot boat lost power to its outboard motor when it was just outsideCornetBay. The receding tide drew the powerless craft out throughDeceptionPass and pastDeceptionIsland. Winds at the time were blowing 20-30 MPH from the south and a small craft warning had been issued. Onboard were two adults and three small children.

The Swinomish Police Boat was returning from a training exercise in Port Townsend when they were contacted by Deception Pass Park Rangers, who had received a 911 call about the drifting vessel. The Swinomish Officers responded and located the boat, took it under tow and brought it back toCornetBay. Members of North Whidbey Fire also responded and examined the family before transferring them to the boat ramp atCornetBay.
