Monday May 8
7:35 p.m .: Suicide scare – An anonymous caller reported that a suicidal female was parked on Morris Street, La Conner. The woman had sent multiple texts to friends. Deputies arrived, talked with her and took her to a hospital for mental health services.
Tuesday May 9
8:27 a.m .: Sniffer dog visit – Deputies did a random K-9 drug search of school grounds at La Conner High School on Sixth Street. The search turned up no drugs.
9:21 a.m .: Nice knife – A man was reported at the Pioneer Market on Morris Street, La Conner, talking to himself and waving a knife “in a non-threating manner.” Deputies were unable to locate the man.
10:53 a.m .: Left behind – A caller reported leaving personal items at the La Terraza restaurant on First Street, La Conner. Deputies found the belongings at the restaurant.
3:04 p.m .: Shoplifters – Two kids stole candy from the Pioneer Market on Morris Street, La Conner. The naughty juveniles were turned over to their parents and charges were sent to the prosecutor’s office at the store manager’s request.
6:53 p.m .: Disappearing DUI – A possible drunk driver was reported along Fir Island Road, Conway. Deputies were unable to locate the driver.
11:11 p.m .: Laser danger – The Whidbey Island Naval Air Station reported to La Conner deputies that a laser was pointed at one of their airplanes. Lasers pose a big hazard to pilots and it’s a federal crime to point one at a plane. Deputies have not located the laser wielder at this time.
Wednesday May 10
10:20 a.m .: Trailer theft – A flatbed trailer was reported stolen from a home in Conway. Deputies are investigating the incident.
11:18 a.m .: Drug problem – La Conner High Schoolstaff found a student carrying drugs. Charges have been sent to the prosecutor’s office.
5:34 p.m .: Dog hit – A vehicle reportedly hit a dog on Washington Ave., La Conner. Deputies responded to the incident.
Thursday May 11
1:56 a.m .: Big ticket – Deputies pulled a vehicle over on La Conner Whitney and Young roads for speeding 10 miles over the limit. The driver had a suspended license and received a citation.
4:50 p.m .: Side job – A boat owner in La Conner reported that someone renting their boat was running a bed and breakfast aboard it in violation of their rental agreement. Deputies told the boat owner the issue is a civil matter rather than criminal.
Saturday May 13
1:31 p.m .: Missing money – A caller from the La Conner Retirement Inn reported a possible theft of her money. However, after deputies spoke to her, she remembered that she had given the money to her grandkids for Easter.
4:40 p.m .: Boat problem – A boat was reported in distress at Deception Pass. After a short time, the boat was able to restart its motors and move along.
Sunday May 14
9:51 a.m .: Trespasser – At Flats Road, La Conner, a man was reported trespassing on the caller’s property. The owner confronted the man, who began to swear at her. Deputies responded, and the man told them that he was just out for a walk near the dike that he thought was public.
1:21 p.m .: Sad dog – Deputies responded after a caller reported that a dog was in a car in distress in Pioneer Park in La Conner.
1:33 p.m .: Money problems – An argument over money owed at a La Conner residence escalated and deputies responded and attempted to reach the reporting party.
3:21 p.m .: Hit and run – There was a report of a hit and run along Caledonia Street, La Conner. Deputies haven’t identified a suspect.
3:56 p.m .: False alarm – A caller at the public restrooms on First Street, La Conner, dialed 911 and hung up. Deputies did not find any problems.
Monday May 15
9:13 a.m .: Loose cargo – A vehicle reportedly lost its load while driving on La Conner Whitney Road. Deputies were unable to locate the driver.
