Chow down on chowder Saturday

Chowder will be served at the 17th Annual Kiwanis Chowder by the Channel this Saturday from 3-6 p.m. at the La Conner Middle School. Over 10 local restaurants will present their signature chowders for sampling. The best chowder of Skagit Valley will be chosen by voting by diners.

Tickets are $8. Proceeds will support the Braves Club, the new after school program, started this year for all students.

A ticket allows sampling from all restaurants and includes crackers, dessert, and a drink. Vote for your favorite by dropping the ticket into the voting box at that restaurant’s table. Voters win by getting a bowl of the chowder to eat or take home.

Representatives from the various La Conner youth groups sponsored by the Kiwanis will be present to share their project experiences.

The La Conner Middle School is at 404 North Sixth Street.
