The Swinomish Tribal Community is poised to open the most comprehensive addiction treatment clinic in Washington state.
Grand Opening activities for the state-of-the-art didgwalic (place where camas grows) wellness center, located on South March Point Road northwest of La Conner, are scheduled Nov. 15.
Next Wednesday’s event kicks off with a 10 a.m. ceremony and luncheon to follow at Swinomish Casino & Lodge.
Tours of the new 10,000-square foot facility, former site of Bayside Fitness, are slated for 1-4 p.m. that afternoon.
Swinomish Tribal Senate chair Brian Cladoosby highlighted the didgwalic center during remarks to Gov. Jay Inslee and his cabinet, whom Swinomish hosted as part of the annual Washington Centennial Accord last month.
While operated by Swinomish, the new center will be open to both Tribal and non-Tribal members.
