LEE RACANELLO

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of long-time L aConner resident (and force of nature) Lee Racanello, beloved mother, Nana, aunt and friend. Lee died peacefully in her sleep at her home on April 26, 2018.

It will take a long time to adjust to no longer seeing her smile, hearing her forthright and sassy opinions and tales of the past, as well stories of the people she met on her daily walks through town.

Born Verleigh Pool in Brisbane, Australia (1926), Lee immigrated to the U. S. at 21 as a war bride and finally settled in the Pacific Northwest. She spent a long and happy life with her adoring husband, John Racanello (who sadly preceded her in death in (1919-2002)

Lee loved numbers and detail and after a long career with Oak Harbor Freight Lines, she turned her energies to volunteer tax work, her handiwork: knitting, sewing and especially needlepoint, of which she was a master, and the people around her.

John and Lee loved to enjoy life. They gave parties, spent time with their friends and close-knit family, and traveled as much as they could, at least one or two big adventures every year as well as small trips, just for fun.

Lee is survived by her daughter, Linda Mallery (Dave Meyers), granddaughters: Kami Robinson, Keri Weigova and Erin Mallery (Josh Gitomer) and her treasured great-grandchildren: Lily Weigova, Nikolaj Weig, Sasha Engeland, Antonin Weig and Vivienne Gitomer (and soon-to-arrive baby boy Gitomer) as well as a loving extended-family, spread over the globe
