Since we love nature and own a Nature Store, we are also aware of the dangers to wildlife. How many times have I told customers, who say that they have rats in their yards, DO NOT put rat poison out, because you kill the Owls!
A family of Great horned owls can eat a dozen mice a night!
Other animals like hawks, coyotes and opossums are also affected, and it makes the rodent problem worse when we kill their predators.
The ‘poison’ industry is large, when I checked online I was amazed how many different poisons you can buy.

Most of the new poisons are slow release poisons, the rat can still run into the woods and a wild animal or pet can eat it and also die.
Secondary poisoning is a slow agonizing death, you can prevent it! The old-fashioned trap still works and removing items that mice and rats love helps too. Saving the natural predators should be the first on our list!
