Cathie Wyman was honored with a Lifetime Achievement award at the SWAN Women of the Year Banquet last Thursday in Anacortes.
She has spent more than 30 years giving back to the Town of La Conner, providing guidance to enhance the natural beauty of the area and support the business district. As owner of Wyman Park, she helped spur a give-back program during the holidays that donated 10 percent of sales back to charity. She has volunteered with the La Conner Beautification Committee, the La Conner Institute of Performing Arts and the La Conner Chamber of Commerce.
Cathie was also inspired by her time volunteering at the Friendship House in Mount Vernon and helped to develop the affordable housing community of Channel Cove in La Conner. She has stayed involved in this area of concern by serving as treasurer for the Home Trust of Skagit. She is currently serving as treasurer for the Museum of Northwest Art, which she agreed to do last spring.
SWAN – the Skagit Women’s Alliance and Network – honors women for giving back to their community every year. SWAN is a non-profit board formed in 1984 to serve as a network and liaison between various women’s business and professional organizations in Skagit County. The primary purpose of this board is to encourage and promote the exchange of information, ideas and support throughout the various groups, as well as the benefit of all women.
