Rain nine of the last 10 days of October pushed the month’s total to 2.32 inches. The 1.9 inches was over 81 percent of the month’s precipitation. Most of that, 1.52 inches, came Oct. 26-28. The 0.64 inch on the 27th was over one-fourth that weekend’s rainfall.
The real rain story: three inches fell Oct. 28-Nov. 4, exceeding October’s total. It rained seven of the eight days.
The late October rain dropped last month to the eighth driest since 2000. Five of the driest years have been since 2010. Less than two inches of rain has fallen seven times, with 1.07 inches in 2002 the driest year. Over four inches has fallen eight times. The 6.07 inches in 2014 is the sole year exceeding six inches this century.
