EDWIN A. WELLS

Edwin A. Wells died on Sunday, December 23rd, 2018. He was born in Mount Vernon on May 17th, 1932 to Paul and Ann Wells. “Ned” attended the University of Washington and was then drafted into the post-war Army where he spent his rare free time travelling throughout Europe. There, his lifelong thirst for travel and adventure began.

Ned settled in Seattle, became a father of four, and grew into an enthusiastic plantsman. Pursuing another adventure, he established Wells Medina Nursery in 1971. It became the premier gardening locale for the Seattle area. With 30 years of passion, unending drive, and hard work, Ned fostered the love of gardening throughout the surrounding community. During rare breaks, he returned to his love of travelling the world - often bringing his children and grandchildren with him. Reinvigorated, he always returned to the nursery with interesting stories and thought-provoking facts as a testament to his zeal for learning

Ned retired to his hometown of Mount Vernon where he designed his dream home and garden. He spent his retirement pursuing the activities he enjoyed most - gardening, travel, cycling, going to lunch with close friends, and spending time with family.

Ned was a loving, supportive father and a caring, fun grandfather. His stories – illustrated with the flipping through his sturdy atlas – combined with his infectious never-ending curiosity won’t be forgotten. Ned will be dearly missed by his family and all who came to know him.

He was inurned in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Columbarium with a small family ceremony on Sunday, January 6, 2019.

Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home of Mount Vernon.
