KeyBank fails community

Dear Editor:

I am so disappointed that Key Bank is not fulfilling their corporate responsibility here to serve the needs of this community as described in the CRA [Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 – editor] for banks which requires that banks serve lower income communities. Although Key may have banks in low income neighborhoods in cities, I am not so sure that they feel the same responsibility about small rural communities.

I imagine that they are not making enough money from this location – based on the revenue expectations which are in turn based on the average of all their locations – which is like judging forward expectations on past performance: Unreliable.

I believe that they can do better for this town. They can manage this branch much more efficiently, for one. They can support the community here as other banks do in their communities. (Compare other banks and corporate responsibility online.)

And they shouldn’t be surprised when people need to close accounts with them.

One of our local businesses here was actually told that she could drive to another location to make night deposits. Not realistic.

I called Pam Strait at Operations for Key to make the case. Her number is 425-789-2820. Talking to the people here won’t help.

Kind regards,

Linda Talman
