What a night – thank you, La Conner!
I was so overwhelmed by the support and generosity of our community on Saturday night, that I didn’t do a very good job thanking everyone who helped make the La Conner Sunrise Food Bank’s First Annual Fundraiser – “A Night of Music and Silent Auction” – the huge success it was.
It all started nine weeks ago with our four people planning committee and graphic designer, Sandy Johnson. Sandy donated her time to create the fantastic posters and flyers you saw around town. I had people come up that were from out of town and said they saw our posters and thought the event looked like fun, so they had to come - thank you, Sandy!
Then there’s Lori Gould. Lori was our primary ‘procurement’ representative for silent auction donations. Timing and weather were not on Lori’s side. Still, in spite of it all, Lori managed to procure interesting and exciting items from town merchants. Renee Matthews swept in at the last minute and brought in items from merchants we were not able to approach. Scott Price was able to get donations from two Camano Island artists. A big thank you to Lori, Renee and Scott.
But most importantly – thank you to all the merchants and individuals who donated items. I know some merchants did not get approached and wanted to give. Next year, we will have months instead of weeks to plan. And we will look forward to proudly displaying your items in a silent auction that is even bigger and better.
Town of La Conner – thank you for donating Maple Hall for the event. It’s such a lovely space and was perfect for our event.
Lost Keys – thank you, thank you, thank you! Donating your music is what drove this event and helped make the night a success. We can’t wait to partner with you again next year.
Scott Price – thank you for emceeing the night. Your energy helped move the night along and helped educate the community about the food bank and the need it fills.
Volunteers – where would I be without you? Your dedication to the food bank every Monday and your willingness to help whenever and wherever is so greatly appreciated. I couldn’t have pulled off the event without you.
Most importantly, thank you to all who came, enjoyed and participated. You are, indeed, a community that loves and supports. Thank you!
With heartfelt gratitude,
Michelle Havist, director
