“Tonight (Feb. 15) was so amazing! I learned much more about the homeless than what I have believed for a long time!”, is what we were hearing over and over as people were crowding the foyer of the Lincoln Theater. “There’s No Place Like Home,” performed as a reader’s theater, challenged the audiences preconceived ideas about who those people are walking around their towns, sleeping in cars and doorways.
The Art Show connected to the “There’s No Place Like Home” show at the Lincoln Theater was successful for the 2nd Chance Scholarship, Skagit Valley College Foundation, as it was for the artists. Jason Cockburn, Joan Cross, Susan Silverman and Lauren Christian donated a number of their pieces to go to helping homeless students with a scholarship. The silent auction let people bid for unique and unusual artwork in hopes of being the lucky bidder to go home with a new piece for their own.
The 2nd Chance Scholarship and TASA would like to also thank Dakota Art and our community for their support in making the night such a wonderful event.
