I am writing because of things written about Bill Bruch. I want to share with you what I know about Bill.
I am a retired criminal attorney. I moved to Washington five years ago. A friend from the church I joined asked me to attend a Republican meeting in Skagit County. After that meeting I went to the Republican Office where I met Bill, the Chairman of the Skagit County Republican Party. In the past five years I have had many conversations with Bill, including when I did not agree with him on an issue. Bill always listened. Bill is very intelligent and always researches issues he is concerned about. Bill wants what is best for Washington.
I am a Christian. Bill told me he is a Christian. Under our Constitution, one’s religion does not matter. No matter what you believe you can run for political office. However, because Bill shared that he is a Christian, I know he believes in God and he believes we are to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Before I attended law school I taught high school biology in Illinois, where I lived most of my life. I taught students about the human reproductive system because this is important. However, I absolutely agree with Bill and the 266,000 people who signed Ref 90 that SB5395 went way too far, especially when it comes to teaching innocent young children.
I almost didn’t write this letter because a recent poll showed that 77 per cent of conservatives are afraid to voice their political beliefs because politics has become so hateful. I wasn’t sure if it was safe to sign my name. But we must not be afraid because it is important to support people like Bill Bruch who truly cares, who listens to both sides or all sides of an issue, and who works so hard for the people of Washington, a state Bill loves.
