Your independent hometown award-winning newspaper

Your president is different from my president

What Donald Trump was Allen Elliott referring to in his Sept. 30 column? He is certainly a totally different president Trump than the one my husband and I support. I suspect he is the verbally contrived contortion of the likes of CNN, MSNBC, CBS, etc., the news outlets that now have become dangerous propaganda machines.

While still in grade school, I recall a statement made by my teacher which made an indelible impression on me. She commented that it is very dangerous for a country when the news media (at that time newspapers) align themselves with a political party. The culprit of which she spoke was the Russian newspaper, Pravda, which is likely the most inaccurately named publication in history. Pravda means truth. That, unfortunately, is what we in the United States are experiencing today, regarding many newspapers, television news coverage, and other media forms.

A true journalist is an asset to their community and country. He, or she, will present facts in an honest and balanced form, without personal opinion or political leanings which taint the information. What we see and hear today, all too often, are not facts but are false concepts meant to sway the recipient to a certain false conclusion. Thus, we have an erroneous opinion of someone, or something, based on false information.

I firmly believe this is what is happening regarding President Trump and his administration. While certainly not a perfect individual, (there has been only One Perfect Person), he works harder than any president I have ever seen for the good of this country, defends our Constitution and Bill of Rights and defends our way of life and freedoms.

I am a voter who votes not for the party, but for the platform of the party most aligned with my personal core belief system. Never would I want a president who stands with socialism/Marxism. I am saddened that the Democratic Party has decided to embrace radical left policies.
