3rd ELECTION UPDATE: Wesen leads Lundsten; Gilday and Muzzall up in LD 10

Nov. 7, 10:45 p.m. — Incumbent Republican District 1 County Commission Ron Wesen has taken a 2,206 vote lead in his race against first time candidate Mark Lundsten, Saturday's Skagit County elections office ballot count update shows. Peter Browning, the Burlington Chamber of Commerce director running on a "nonpartisan" label, has increased his lead to almost 8,000 votes over Democratic Mount Vernon Councilmember Mary Hudson for the District 2 commissioner seat. Tom Seguine, candidate for Skagit Superior Court Judge Position 3, has narrowed the gap to 991 votes behind Elizabeth Yost Neidzwski in the third countywide election.

Rep. Dave Paul's (D-Oak Harbor) lead over Skagit County Republican Chair Bill Bruch has shrunk to 1,161, and 50.7% of the total vote for Legislative District 10 Position 2. His 1,303 vote margin in Skagit County provides his advantage. Sen. Ron Muzzall (R-Oak Harbor), has doubled his lead to 1,210 votes over Island County Commissioner Helen Price Johnson for the Legislative District 10 seat. And Stanwood attorney Greg Gilday, a Republican, has taken a 414 vote lead, his first, against former Democratic Island County Commissioner Angela Homola Legislative District 10 Position 1.

Skagit County counted 9,740 ballots Saturday, the only county in LD 10 counting votes. The Skagit and Snohomish county elections offices will update ballot counts by 5 p.m. Monday. Island County had completed its vote tallies until certification Nov. 24.

There is an estimated 15,500 votes to count in Skagit County; only a portion of the count will affect the LD 10 races, which is comprised of the southwestern part of Skagit County, the northwestern tip of Snohomish County and Island County.

Not all the 1,300 ballots to be counted in Snohomish County will include LD 10 precincts there.
