Library Thrift Shop Building on Sale for $1
We are excited to be moving forward in preparing the site for the new La Conner Swinomish Library. The pandemic has dramatically slowed the permit process for new construction. However, we are in the final stage of obtaining permits from the County, and expect to go out to bid in March.
The building that formerly housed the La Conner Library Thrift Shop is being offered for sale for $1. The sale would require the buyer remove the 1,344 square foot building by April 1st from its current location at 520 Morris Street.
Construction on the new 5,500 square foot La Conner Swinomish Library could begin as early as April at the site, according to project manager Jeremy McNett of Underwood & Associates. If the building does not sell, it will be demolished as part of the site preparation for the new library. Interested parties should contact Library Director Jared Fair at 360-466-3352.

The Library is excited to see our area move forward with opening at 25% for restaurants and businesses. Our current space does not allow for modified operations, and we will continue to provide curbside and phone service Monday through Friday. The health and safety of our staff and patrons is our top priority, and we are looking forward to a safe reopening in the future and are excited to see you again soon!
We continue to expand our digital offerings, and are happy to announce interview segments with local author Ashley Sweeney will be posted to our Facebook page throughout the coming weeks. We continue to post daily and invite you to follow us on Facebook for book recommendations, collection updates, and fun content.
Win with Book Bingo
Our Winter Reading Bingo is in full swing! This is a fun way to break out of reading ruts and explore new material. You can get a bingo sheet at the library through our curbside service, or print one off our website. Anyone who completes the bingo challenge will receive a $5 gift certificate to Stompin’ Grounds here in La Conner. While this program is aimed at adults, younger readers are welcome to participate. Completed bingo sheets will be accepted at the library until April 7th. Here is how it works:
Each square on the card specifies a book genre, author, setting, or character. Print and eBooks are welcome, and the goal is to read five books in a column or row. Bingo! Bring your completed sheet to the library and exchange it for your prize (one per player, please).
But that is not all! Keep playing and complete a bingo black-out and you will be entered into a raffle for a selection of Winter Reads gifts. Three winners will be drawn after the program concludes in April.
