Library opens on limited basis June 16

We are excited by the recent announcements from the CDC and Gov. Jay Inslee’s office and we look forward to taking the next steps toward reopening. Based on current guidelines for public libraries in Washington State, we expect to begin welcoming patrons by appointment into the library starting Wednesday, June 16. The library will be open by appointment to members of the same household, up to five people.

Appointments will be available every half hour, 1-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. To make an appointment, please call the library at 360-466-3352. As new guidance continues to be released, we will plan accordingly. Being open by appointment is the next step toward unrestricted in-person access. We will continue to move forward with the health and safety of our community and staff as our primary goal. If current trends hold, we hope to expand in-person services later this summer.

Thank you to everyone who has visited the library for curbside service! Curbside service will continue to be available by appointment 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. This has been a great success and an opportunity to provide access to library materials despite the restrictions of the pandemic. Our online catalog and other databases are always available through our website (lclib.lib.wa.us) and staff are just a phone call away for any requests you may have. We look forward to seeing the smiling faces of our community soon and thank you for your support!

Audubon Birdwatching Backpack and Discovery Passes available for checkout

Our Audubon Birdwatching Backpack is ready for checkout.

This kit includes: binoculars, maps, books and other information to guide you through the rewarding recreation of birdwatching.

Download a bird call identification app to your smartphone and you are well on your way to becoming a genuine birder.

Experience the beauty of the outdoors even more when you check out a Discovery Pass and visit the state parks in our locale.

There are more than a dozen state parks within an hour’s drive of La Conner.

For unrestricted access to the facilities of these parks, a Discovery Pass is required.

These are a great value and as part of the Washington State Library Access Washington program, you can borrow one of these passes from the library and see for yourself the beauty of these parks.

Poetry Month Participation

Thank you for your poems! We appreciate everyone who participated in our poetry program during April. Winners were drawn from the poems we received and have been contacted. We enjoyed seeing many of you reading poems posted in the library windows. We plan to present this program again next year and look forward to more of your poetic talent.
