With the elimination of most COVID restrictions, Cantabile Chamber Choir, a fixture of Skagit Valley’s live music scene since 2006, is looking forward to resumption of in-person rehearsals in September.
“It’s no surprise on-line rehearsals cannot replace the experience of singing and creating beautiful harmony together in the same room. That being said, a core of musicians is eager to use the listening skills and theory we’ve been ‘pandemically studying’ in actual rehearsals this fall. I have a lovely concert in mind and am excited to be auditioning six new members already this month. The world needs to hear us sing now more than ever. We are going to bring our light into our communities through song; the question is, ‘do you want to bring your light and join us?” is the invitation of Dustin Willetts, Cantabile’s Artistic Director.
The group is now scheduling auditions for new members. “As we eagerly anticipate starting rehearsals in September, we’re actively auditioning potential new members for the group.” reported Kathy Roché-Zujko, executive director. “We challenge our singers with the often complex and difficult pieces we perform, but the joy we derive from creating gorgeous music is the payoff!”
With rehearsals in Mount Vernon, and performances in La Conner, Mount Vernon and on Camano Island, singers and audience members will again have the opportunity to enjoy the Cantabile Chamber Choir experience during their winter concert series.
Cantabile is the only auditioned choir in the Skagit Valley. If you are interested in challenging your musical skills and auditioning for Cantabile, auditions are being held during the summer, starting on July 3.
