Three vie to fill town council’s position 1

Yesterday afternoon the La Conner Town Council interviewed Bill Bruch, Rich De Shon and Annie Taylor at a 5 p.m. special council meeting, part of the process for filling the seat vacated when Jacques Brunisholz resigned in August. Next week’s Weekly News will report on the interviews.

Residents will be able to address council at the Nov. 9 public comment period before council discusses and votes to fill the position. The town code states that the full remaining council must vote on the replacement council position.

Taylor has lived in La Conner since 2013 and is owner and operator of Crescent Moon Yoga. She has been a server at Nell Thorn for six years.

De Shon and his wife, Terri, retired to La Conner from California almost two years ago.

Bruch is a 17-year resident of La Conner. He was appointed to council and then elected in 2015, resigning in 2017 when he moved out to Mount Vernon.

Side-by-side candidate profiles are on page 6.

The candidates included resumes with their applications. View their applications at Town Hall and via the homepage of the Town’s website: townoflaconner.org/.
