This is a recipe I learned to prepare only after I married Kevin. It was served at a tribe’s community dinner. I resolved to cook it for us, at home. The last time I prepared this meal was eight years ago. Somehow this combination of ingredients, layered in this fashion is the best! It uses less than a bag of tater tots. I used a round, deep casserole dish. You could use a 9” x 11” dish. Baking time would be the same. The cheese, soup and Worcestershire sauce add saltiness.
Ingredients
Ground beef, 1 lb.
Onion, 1 small diced
Garlic, 1 or 2 cloves, minced
Cream of celery soup, 1 can
Sour cream, ½ cup
Worcestershire Sauce, 1 tbsp
Green Beans, ½ can
Cheddar cheese, 8 oz grated
Tater tots, 32 oz frozen bag
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 F. In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion and garlic. In a bowl, mix the soup, sour cream and Worcestershire sauce. After the meat is browned, add the soup mixture. Stir together and add in the green beans. After mixing, scoop into the casserole dish. Pat down. Sprinkle half the cheese. Begin adding the tater tots, one at a time. Cover the entire casserole with a single layer of tater tots. Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle remaining cheese. Bake an additional 5 minutes.
