Your independent hometown award-winning newspaper
Thank you for continuing to talk about our existential crisis in your last editorial, “The world after Earth Day.” I am sorry that you have not had anyone else saying that you were not radical enough but let me say it now: you were not radical enough.
I have always been a nature-lover and concerned about the environment, but only began really learning about oncoming climate chaos when I retired seven years ago. I cannot believe we have only taken baby steps, and many people are still kicking and screaming about any policy that might appear to cost money or cause folks to change.
The truth is, we are already paying dearly for climate disasters; we need all of us doing everything we can every day, and we will still be locked in to more climate chaos for decades, even if we make radical changes now. At this point, I am resigned to losing many things I love, but hoping to save as much as possible. Thanks for continuing the conversation.
Please keep it up!
