Your independent hometown award-winning newspaper
We have sprung forward and lots of things are happening at the library.
The library invites you to participate in #LibraryGivingDay on Tuesday, April 4, a national day focused on support for local libraries. Your gift will help our new library fully equip our community meeting room and complete the signage for books, DVDs and more in our new space!
Help us reach our goal of $10,000. 100 gifts x 100 donors = $10,000. You can donate online at laconnerlibraryfoundation.org or by mail to La Conner Library Foundation, PO Box 1025, La Conner.
We have given out over 500 new library cards. If you have not replaced your old card, or if you don't have a library card, stop by the circulation desk and talk to one of our friendly staff members to get signed up.
February was a busy month. Thank you to everyone who checked out a blind date with a book; We had a great response and lots of "dates" got great ratings. More than once we heard "Wow! I would never have picked up a book like this, but I loved it!"
Thanks also to everyone who came to the valentine craft day on Feb. 10. We had a great time making wands, old fashioned valentines and heart shaped baskets to share with that special someone.
Dungeons and Dragon fans, the library is starting a D&D club on Tuesday, March 28 from 3-5 p.m. Whether you are new to the game or a seasoned player, come to the library and check it out. Game materials are provided or you are welcome to bring you own.
March movie madness is our new theme for the month. We have selected books that have been made into movies or television series and paired them up so you can check out the book and the movie, then tell us which you liked better. People always say, "the book is better than the movie" Is that true? Come to the library and find out for yourself.
March is also women's history month. Come check out our display of "Herstory" books to learn about amazing women who have shaped our world.
Winter reads Bingo ends on April 1st. Don't forget to bring in your bingo cards to earn a treat. If you have a bingo, five squares in a row, you win a free treat at either Beaver Tails or Stompin' Grounds. If you fill your whole bingo card for a blackout, you will be entered in our raffle for a fabulous prize.
