Sarah Cook was a multiple sports standout at La Conner High School, and she is enjoying similar success as a freshman at Skagit Valley College.
After a stellar volleyball season with SVC last fall, Cook joined the Lady Cardinals basketball team and helped Skagit post a 17-12 mark and secure a Northwest Athletic Conference playoff berth.
As a result, Cook was a second unit selection to the 2023 NWAC North All-Region Team.
She filled the SVC stat sheet much as she did while at La Conner. Cook finished with a 14.7 point per game scoring average while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing off nearly two assists per contest. She shot 47% from the floor (176 of 376) and totaled 426 points over a 29-game season.
Cook finished strong for Skagit.
She scored 20 points in SVC's 81-64 win over Edmonds in the team's regular season finale. Cook followed up with a 20-point, 12-rebound effort in the Lady Cards' 87-78 tournament conference setback to Clackamas.
At La Conner, Cook was All-State in volleyball and topped the career 1,000-point scoring mark in basketball.
That dual level of achievement led Cook to attempt – and excel at – the rare feat of playing two college sports.
Academically, Cook also juggles two main pursuits. She is studying both education and environmental science.
