Help the La Conner School District in its application for a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant by participating in a planning meeting for shaping the proposal Monday, June 5, 6:30 p.m. at the Braves Club. The district’s application will emphasize implementing school-based and community-based activities that lead to measurable student growth in reading and math, increased engagement, increased well-being and stronger family-school partnerships.
This program was established by Congress to award grants to rural and inner-city public schools. It supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local academic standards in core academic subjects,
There will be supervised activities for children and snacks. The Braves Club is at 301 North Sixth Street.
