11:23 a.m. Slow ‘em down – Extra patrol requested for speeding vehicles on Channel Drive during morning and evening hours. Several cars speeding well above the posted limit. Channel Dr., Greater La Conner.

Tuesday, January 30

1:25 p.m. Fake phone cop – Phone scam with a subject claiming to be law enforcement and demanding money be paid to clear warrants issued out of state. This is a common scare scam and the victim was advised not to send any money and to ignore future calls. S. 3rd St., La Conner.

Wednesday, January 31

11:13 a.m. Scammers working the phones – Another report of an online scam claiming the subject had won money and info was needed to process the winning. The victim had started to provide banking information but was alerted by the bank to stop and not proceed. No money was lost. Morris St., La Conner.

1:29 p.m. Slow: pig crossing – Subject’s pet pig got loose and was running around the intersection. The pig was friendly and followed food back to the pen. Maple Ave. / Caledonia St., La Conner.

Thursday, February 1

1:38 p.m. Fraud at home – Caller reported that she believed her father had been a victim of fraud as a caretaker had taken a $6,000 loan from him and was not paying it back. This was while the father was still living at home and prior to being moved into La Conner Retirement Inn. The caller’s father still had control over his finances at the time so this was a civil matter. The caller was directed on how to get power of attorney started. N. 1st St., La Conner.

Friday, February 2

11:56 a.m. Dog in need of owner – Caller found a brown chihuahua in the road that did not have a collar. The caller took it to the humane society and was advised it did not have an ID chip. Law notified in case anyone called in. Bradshaw Rd., Greater La Conner.

8:38 p.m. Good deed punished – Subjects shooting ducks out of season and from a car. They were caught by a deputy and the investigation was turned over to Fish and Wildlife. Several ducks were shot with a .22 rifle. Farm to Market / Sunset Rds., Edison.
