Obituary: Patti Dynes

Patti Dynes, 83, born Patricia Reinhert, left her beloved family and partner on March 23, 2024, peacefully at home on Pull and Be Damned Road. A local girl, she was born on June 15, 1940, and raised near Burlington-Edison High school – a park where her home used to be.

She graduated in 1958 from Burlington-Edison High School. Patti moved and has lived in La Conner so long, her library card number was in the middle teens.

She and her good friend, Patty Person, two dynamic women entrepreneurs, were the original owners of The Ginger Grater, until sold in 2006. Locals remember her as "the nicest lady."

Patti married Bill Dynes, another Burlington local, on Sept. 5, 1959. The couple had two children, Michael and Colleen. During this time, she worked as a dental assistant as well as working the family egg business, Dynes Farms.

Patti was an avid water skier. They spent many a summer water skiing on their property at Big Lake on their boat "Sunny Side Up."

Twenty-five years later they divorced amicably. Patti moved to La Conner, where she immersed herself in the arts and was a member of The Museum of Northwest Art and the History Museum to which she donated many artifacts.

Patti is survived by her son Mike (Jodi); grandchildren Matt (Lisa), Molly (Kyle) Larson, and Delaney; her great-granddaughter Livy; and soon-to-be great-grandson. She is also survived by her partner of 17 years, Doug Hawley, her son-in-law Craig Mullen and his children Craig Jr. and Carlee, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Peggy Dynes, sister-in-law Elizabeth Wilson, and aunt Joan Dickhaus.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Colleen; her parents, Fred and Orpha; and former husband, Bill Dynes.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday April 12, at the Skagit Golf and Country Club in Burlington.

Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Care Fund at Skagit Regional Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1376, Mount Vernon, WA 98274.
