Meet Josilynn Straathof, La Conner Soroptimists' February Student of the Month. She is the proud daughter of Brian Straathof and DeAnna Young and has attended La Conner High School since her sophomore year.
She is currently senior class president and the student representative to the La Conner School Board. She said it has been interesting experiencing the workings of the board. She uses her leadership skills as class president leading the fundraising and attending the many events required. She has played on the soccer team since junior year and softball since her sophomore year. Another interest is the drama department. You might have seen her in the spring play this year. Her academic favorites are art, science, history and math.
In her free time, she enjoys drawing mixed media and likes to read for relaxation and enjoyment. Fun with friends and family is important. She also works part time.
Josilynn plans to continue her post high school education at Skagit Valley College and then transfer to a four- year school and obtain her master's degree. Biology and zoology and environmental science is especially interesting to her. She loves elephants. She likes archeology and anthropology and hopes to study abroad. She is a well -rounded student who likes to contribute to her school and community. Congratulations to Josilynn Straathof.
In recognition for all her pursuits, Josilynn will receive a gift certificate to Vintage La Conner, the thrift store operated by volunteers to support local women and girls and enabled by generous donations from the community.
