Library Happenings

Lots of great things are happening at the library this month.

First, we want to welcome Richard Vendiola, our new tribal liaison. Richard has a background in education and moved from Auburn to Swinomish in August with his wife, Jennifer, a special needs teacher in Oak Harbor. Richard enjoys chess, tennis, bike riding and walking Ollie, his boxer-mastiff mix. He is currently reading “Killers of the Flower Moon” by David Grann. We are excited to have Richard on board!

Thank you to everyone who supported the La Conner Swinomish Library in this year’s Library Giving Day appeal, we are thrilled to share that we exceeded our $15,000 goal toward youth and adult programs, author readings, engaging events, and more. We are thankful to have such great community support for our library.

We have some exciting events coming up. Author Janet Yoder will be here on Friday, April 26, to discuss her book, “Where the Language Lives: Vi Hulbert and the Gift of Lushootseed.”

On Saturday, May 4, enjoy a May the Fourth Be with You showing of the classic Star Wars movie “The Empire Strikes Back.”

We have a very special story time coming up on Friday, May 10. Join us for a special performance multi-Latin Grammy Award-winning and six-time Emmy-nominated musician, children’s television personality and author Lucky Diaz. Don’t miss this very special performance.
