Make plans now for Skagit Valley Highland Games

MOUNT VERNON – Tickets are on sale for the 28th annual Highland Games and Celtic Festival, July 13-14 at the Skagit County Fairgrounds, 501 Taylor Avenue, Mount Vernon.

Produced by the Celtic Arts Foundation the family-friendly event is a Mount Vernon summer staple. Activities include bagpipe competitions, traditional Scottish athletic competitions, Highland dancing, sheepdog demos, performances from renowned Celtic musicians, history presentations, genealogy tents, children's activities and several food vendors.

"The new location is exciting," said Executive Director Cayley Schmid. "The grounds and preexisting structures allow for a new layout of all the activities, as well as more shade and overall better accessibility. We have more registrations this year in all competitive events, as well as more clans and vendors than ever before."

Purchasing tickets in advance allows easier access. Tickets to the whisky tasting event are limited and may sell out.

Ticket passes are for one day or the weekend and individual or group. Prices are reduced for students, seniors and military. Children under 5 are free. Information and tickets at celticarts.org.
